As you know, the Grand Strand is not known for its apple orchards. In fact, you’ll have to travel 4-5 hours to find our nearest ones. But if you love this fall activity enough to make the road trip then we’ve rounded up the nearest apple picking options to Myrtle Beach!

WINDY HILL ORCHARD in York, SC | ~3 hrs & 45 min from MB
Pick your own apples begins in early September. Must pre-purchase a reservation to pick. Tickets are $7 to reserve a 1/4 LB peck bag. They have a FULL FALL EVENT CALENDAR so check that for more special events.
Millstone Creek Orchards in Ramseur, NC | ~3 hrs & 15 min from MB
They have apple picking every Saturday in Sept for $20 per person plus hayride, apple cider, and apple slushies. They also have tons of other farm events into the fall including a pumpkin picking adventure.
CARRIGAN FARMS in Mooresville, NC (outside of Charlotte) | ~4 hours from MB
Apple picking begins on Sept 6 and runs daily through Sept 25. Best picking happens early so go early! Admission includes a hayride, access to the petting zoo and time in the orchard. Cost is $14 per person and includes a half-peck bag to fill with apples. They will also have a pumpkin patch and haunted trail in October.
Fisher’s Peach Orchard in Greer, SC | ~4 hrs & 15 min from MB
This place is best known for their peaches but they have U-pick apples in the fall also. They’re picking as early as August 27.
apple festival options
The SC Apple Festival is the official Apple Festivals in SC. It happens in Westminster, SC (~5 hours from Myrtle Beach) on Sept 8–9.
The festival is in Oconee County, which is the largest apple producing region in SC. You can expect live music, carnival rides, local craft and food vendors. And of course, bushels and pecks of apples!
The 2nd Annual Apple Festival at Jedburg Function in Summerville, SC (2 hours & 30 min) is a closer option. It is happening Sept 24-25 and will include a large variety of apples (pre-picked), music, food, desserts, family-friendly activities, etc.
hendersonville, nc is the apple picking hotbed
If you want even more options then you’ll probably be headed to Hendersonville, NC. It’ll be an almost 5 hour drive but you can make it a weekend by visiting Asheville, NC. We’ve lived in AVL and l-o-v-e going back.
