A Big List of Ideas & Activities for Preschoolers in Myrtle Beach

activities for preschoolers in myrtle beach

Here we go. Let’s keep these preschoolers busy! We’ve got a big list of ideas and activities for preschoolers in Myrtle Beach right here.

1– library

We have 10 branches in Horry County plus Chapin Library and a couple more branches in Georgetown County for those in the South Strand. We have a whole article about the libraries here and these two handy graphics to help you keep track of things.

double check with your branch before going. Check on Chapin here and Georgetown County here. Libraries don’t always keep the same schedule. Holidays or other events can interrupt the rhythm so always call ahead or check online.

2– Check out city or county programming

There are many programs you can take advantage of through the county and city departments. Here are a few to keep your eye on. Please note these will change seasonally so be sure to check back often. Registration happens pretty early for most of these things so look 4-6 weeks before the transition to a new season.

North Myrtle Beach | Keep an eye on the city’s Park & Rec page for things like playdates and where the park & play truck is going to be.

City of Myrtle Beach offers some great programs and so does Horry County Parks & Rec! These rotate and change often so check back often. Right now they have a Zumbini class for kids up to age 4 where kids and their caregivers enjoy dancing, singing and instruments.

The Conway Parks & Rec department is another place to check for programming. Sometimes they’ll have creative arts and they’re always rotating sports programs.

3– Art programs

We have a guide full of places where your child can get involved in art

Some of the best options for preschoolers are: Studio 43*19, Our Kids Create, the MB Art Museum and All Fired Up.

4– sports programs

We have a guide full of sports offerings in the Grand Strand too. Most of these will be geared to older kids though. The sports that parents of preschoolers most often search for are usually dance/gymnastics and soccer (you can find soccer options in this larger sports guide). Some of the best soccer options for preschoolers include Happy Feet and Coast FA. Most martial arts studios also have classes for preschool aged kids.

5– Mommy & Me Classes

There are a lot of these! We did an article on them here broken down by what is best for babies/toddlers and those better for preschoolers.

Some standouts for preschoolers (that are also free or very affordable) are LW Paul Living History Farm Programming, Connect the Tots with Horry County Parks & Rec, and Musikgarten at Georgetown Library. And any programs at the State Parks are technically “mommy & me”.

6– Check out a new park

We have nearly all the area parks reviewed right here. Go check out a new one and grab a smoothie or baked treat afterward. Those are my favorite easy activities with kids!

7– Indoor fun options

Aside from the library, there are several places to take your kids to explore indoors. We’ve also got a list for that right here. Our favorites for preschoolers are the Myrtle Beach Art Museum (free), EdVenture, Fun Warehouse, a local indy bookstore (free), or Horry County Museum (free), the Nature Centers at either State Park (free with park pass).

8– other outdoor experiences

You don’t have to have much of an agenda with kids. Just exploring outside is enough! Here are some places/ways we love to roam.

9– MOthers of preschoolers groups

If you’re not familiar then MOPS groups (mothers of preschoolers) are usually affiliated with a church and offer a great way to get plugged into a community fast! There are a few options locally.

MOPS Carolina Forest Community Church

MOPS South Strand

Even if a local church doesn’t have a MOPS program they’ll likely have a kids ministry which is a good way to meet other moms. One of the biggest issues I see/hear about is moms lacking friends so I advocate for doing all you can to position yourself around people who you can experience life with!

10– day trips and road trips

Check out our growing list of day trip ideas. There are plenty of places you can go within just 45-minutes and many more beyond that. It just depends on what you’re looking for. Some good ones with preschoolers would be:

Georgetown, Pawleys Island, Hampton Plantation, Hopsewee Plantation, and the Fire Truck Museum in N Charleston.
