the most amazing park within
2 hours of myrtle beach: park circle

The basic question: Is Park Circle worth the 2 hour drive from Myrtle Beach?

The simple answer: Yes.

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING

The is a brand new park which opened in Nov 2023 as the world’s largest inclusive playground. Yes –– The WORLD’S LARGEST!

It’s so cool that we have that within driving distance so we had to go check it out. The address is 4800 Park Circle, North Charleston. So its about 2 hours from central Myrtle Beach.

Here is the official webpage for the park.

It is similar to Savannah’s Playground. That is an inclusive park also and it’s also very large. But Park Circle Playground is at least 3 times as large, maybe more, and has some exciting new elements that kids will LOVE!

all the good-to-know info

PARKING | There is lots of parking but it’ll still fill up, especially on weekends. You may have to loop around a couple of times to get a spot and it appears to be okay to park in the grassy areas.

FULLY FENCED + RUBBERIZED GROUND COVER | The playground is fully fenced and has a couple of main entrances/exits. The ground cover is a very springy rubberized mat. There are big shade canopies over much of the playground and I think the playground is equipped with misters in various spots too.

BABY + TODDLER AREA | There is a very large space just for babies and toddlers. It’s perfect for crawlers and early walkers. Several elements here to keep young kids busy: music, reading/pictures, little village/buildings, tunnels, wobble riders, and more.

FOR BIGGER KIDS | There are so many spaces, I lost count, at least 6 different BIG areas for kids to play in. Some of the climbing is pretty challenging but great for kids to learn to explore their abilities. There is a cool ninja-warrior style area to really test the skills of older kids.

DRILL INTO KIDS THAT THEY CANNOT RUN OFF | The temptation for kids to run from section to section will be high. But on a crowded day that would be a nightmare for reuniting. We had a very serious talk before walking in about staying in the same section and reminded the kids about this every 15 minutes too.

LOTS OF OPPORTUNITIES TO TAKE TURNS | Lines form for some of the bigger slides, climbing elements and zipline swings. This is a great chance for kids to work on patience, sharing and taking turns. On our visit this all happened pretty seamlessly and lines for stuff moves very quickly.

BATHROOMS + PICNIC TABLES | There is a large bathroom area (family-style restrooms only). There are tables and on weekends expect to see plenty of birthday parties and other family gatherings here.

more stuff to do

Park Circle is a N Charleston neighborhood so there are some hotel options and plenty of dining and shopping.

EATS | We loved eating at Sesame Burgers but there are plenty of other restaurants nearby.

WHAT ELSE TO DO | These are some of our favorite spots. It’s also always fun to go into historic Charleston and walk around, see the Pineapple fountain, make a Trader Joe’s stop, and find a local bakery or ice cream spot.
