park overview
This park is not far from downtown and Collins Park at all (~1 mile). But it feels like a hidden gem. The parking here is easy and the area is fully fenced. There is also a covered picnic area and restrooms.
A large water tower is on site but it isn’t actually an eye sore because the tall trees help camoflage it well. A sand volleyball court is here too. Across the street there is a second part of the park with a disc golf course and a walking track.
playground overview
The playground equipment is designed to resemble a train. The equipment states the intended age for play is 5-12. But it feels pretty accessible and safe for kids younger than that.
The park is blessedly in shade all day thanks to the mature trees all around. There is a cute little section with 3 little “shops” for pretend play. Swings are on the far side of the park and those, unfortunately, are mostly in the sun. Back on the inner part of the park there is a rumble slide (major hit) and a balance beam.
The park provides lots of opportunity for imaginative play and allows kids to transition to many different elements quickly. Everything is packed in pretty tight so it’s easy to keep an eye on kids from anywhere in the playground area.
