FEATURES: Fully fenced. Picnic tables. Water views (lake). Other areas to explore (walk across footbridge and even to beach access). Restrooms a short walk away.

SUMMARY: This little playground is in a residential area of mostly beach rental houses. It’s a nice little spot if you’re looking for a quiet and truly hidden park.

park overview

There are many who do not know about this park. It’s tucked away in a quiet residential area (an area of beach rentals) just a block or so over from the Surfside Library and larger Fuller Park.

Martin Municipal Park is a larger recreation area with a baseball field, horseshoes, shuffleboard, picnic tables and an area to walk dogs (on a leash). There is a small area to park (street side parking but it’s not difficult or crowded). The bathrooms are on the opposite side of the pond, by the baseball field. It’s a 3-5 minute walk (with kids) across the wooden footbridge to get to them but we’re always just glad for any restroom option!

playground overview

The playground itself is very small but in good condition. The signage states that it’s intended for ages 5-12 but kids as young as 2.5 or 3 would be fine if they’re accustomed to standard playground equipment.

There are shade trees nearby but they’re not much help during most of the day, unfortunately. The ground cover is rubber mulch and it’s still pretty thick.

The playground is fully fenced which is necessary given the close proximity to the lake and road. The area did seem a little extra buggy during our most recent visit so pack the bug spray for this one.

Bathrooms are accessible but they’re not super close to the playground. You’ll have to cross the wooden footbridge and you’ll find the restrooms by the baseball field.
