family-friendly water activity on the inlet: seakart adventure sc
This thing is kind of a big deal. Seakarts are popular internationally but just now coming to the USA. Local husband and wife owners, Lorrie and Jason Zimecki have introduced this unique watercraft that provides the speed and fun of a jet ski but the safety and stability of a boat. Sounds perfect for bringing kids along. Here is more about them and our experience with Seakart Adventure SC.

HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN RIDE | Each kart holds up to 3 people. They have 2 karts with 2 more on the way.

WHERE DO YOU GO? | The adventure explores all points along the inlet and generally covers about 15 total miles.
GUIDED ADVENTURE | Yes, there is a guide boat with you at all times to help you navigate out to the open waters, manage traffic on the inlet and back again.
AGE REQUIREMENTS | The minimum age is 6 to ride and 18 to drive (with valid drivers license).
Jason Zimecki spent time in Dubai for work and it’s there that he saw and experienced the seakart. It didn’t take long for him and Lorrie to realize the seakart would be a perfect addition to the Grand Strand water sport scene.
They’re trailblazers because these are the first and only seakarts in the entire United States!
How cool is that!?!
built for speed and comfort
DETAILS ABOUT THE WATERCRAFT | What makes the seakart unique is the combo of speed and comfort/safety. The watercraft has a jet ski engine so it’ll boogie (but speeds on this adventure are limited to 30mph). The seakart has a sturdy fiberglass shell giving it lots of stability.
DRIVING IT | It’s so easy to learn to drive. I have very little experience with watercraft and I was comfortable within 10 minutes. There are two buttons –– green for on and red for off. And a lever on the right side of the steering wheel to accelerate.
what to expect on your adventure
BOOK IT | Booking is easy on their website. You’ll get your confirmation and an email with waivers to sign plus some quick instructional/informational videos.
ON ARRIVAL | You’ll meet the crew, get a life jacket, put your stuff away (including your cell phone), and get a 15-minute safety briefing.
GUIDED ADVENTURE | One thing I loved was the guided aspect! The guide boat helps you navigate in and out of the docking area, abide by boating etiquette, and not get lost! They’re also taking pictures for you the whole time and ensuring you know when it’s safe to play around in the kart some.
CAN SWITCH DRIVERS | I loved driving but I also loved being a passenger. When driving you have the fun of playing around but you also are focused on what is right ahead of you so you’re not looking at the scenery as much. It’s great to be able to do both and having at least 2 adults who can take turns driving is ideal (IMO).
A LITTLE WET | You should expect some spray at times but it is minimal. And you’ll definitely have wind-blown hair so tie that back and do not wear dangly earrings! They’ll store your purse and other personal items including cell phones.
DIGITAL PHOTOS | You’ll get a digital photo album shortly after your adventure. So nice that it’s included and not an additional charge.
MORE FAQS | They have a thorough list of FAQs on their website.
