park overview

Chapin Memorial Park is more than just a playground for children.

There is a beautiful green space and white arbors that offer shade and bench seating. The area is very often occupied by people in the area who are experiencing homelessness. This has never been a safety issue during our visits but is something worth noting.

playground overview

Chapin Park’s playground recently benefitted from a massive upgrade to the equipment. The city replaced the older traditional sets with these newer and more modern designs, which leave a lot of room for imaginative play.

There is an area for the smaller kids (2-5) and an even bigger area full of the more abstract and open-ended elements for the older kids (5+). The whole playground is fenced in and covered in thick mulch.

There isn’t much shade right on the playground but the larger park does have plenty of trees and cooler areas to sit outside the fenced playground area. However this is also the area the homeless population tend to occupy so take note.
