There is something cool happening in Surfside Beach every Thursday from 9:30am until 11:30am! The town of Surfside Beach has teamed up with EdVenture Children’s Museum. They are offering fun and educational crafts to kids under age 10. We do a few of these each season and they’re so fun!
Tip #1 – don't get there too early
It’s a floating event and most people show up on the earlier side. These are getting more popular though so it’ll be hard to find a non-crowded time but I think around 11am is probably best. There are educational materials setup and other activity sheets to do there or take home.
tip #2 – don't pay for too much parking time
We didn’t know how long we’d be there so we paid for 2 hours when we really only needed 30 minutes to an hour. It’s not a big deal because it’s only a couple of bucks but still. Nobody likes paying for anything they don’t use!
tip #3 – double up your activity with...
If you’re already going over there then plan to spend some time on the beach! Or head back into town and grab something delicious from Benjamin’s Bakery or Milk & Honey. All Children’s Park is not far from here or you could spend a little time at the Surfside Library.
tip #4 – Plan for some sand
The benches of the beach access point are obviously sandy and kids will inevitably want to step out to the sand and beach so just be prepared for that. This beach access point does have a wash station so clean up is fairly easy. But note there is no portapotty at this beach access point.
Tip #5 – take advantage of edventure
If you haven’t been to EdVenture lately (or ever!) then be sure you use the $2 discount available to locals. The museum recently relocated and got a facelift. They’re also launching new program options in the fall so check back for those soon!
