Fun Park With No Playground: Warbird Park in Myrtle Beach

warbird park in myrtle beach

Yep, this is a park without any playground equipment but your kids won’t miss it! There is so much other stuff going on at this park that it simply must be in your regular rotation. Here is a few things that we enjoy about Warbird Park in Myrtle Beach.

the planes on display

There are 3 large military planes on display at Warbird Park. Those are the A-7, A-10 and F-100. There is plenty of information to read about them on placards throughout the park and on this website. Kids will enjoy running around underneath them and just getting an up close view.

One of the coolest things about this place is the perfect vantage point it provides for watching airplanes take off and land. The Myrtle Beach Airport is very close by and you can watch a plane take off and land about every 10-15 minutes during the busier summer season. You’ll also see helicopters lifting off and landing too.

the military history & memorials

If you’re really into history then golly geez, you’ll spend all day here! There are placards everywhere with info on the area’s military history, military planes, barracks, local government, military monuments, etc. If you really want to ever win at Warbird Park trivia night (not a real thing) then check out the 449 slides of placards, photos, and other site information available through the city’s website.

9/11 MEMORIAL | I was surprised to see a 9/11 memorial here. There is a piece of the World Trade Center that serves as the centerpiece. The memorial includes some great quotes from the leaders who steered our country through the days that followed that tragedy.

WALL OF SERVICE | 2,400+ names are currently recorded on the Wall of Service. This is a space to recognize all those who served honorably in the Myrtle Beach Air Force from 1941-1993.

CIRCLE OF HEROS | This section has memorials to POWs, Purple Heart recipients, the Coast Guard, and more. Follow the well shaded paths to find it.

All of these monuments are a great way to begin educating young kids about our military and the sacrifices our soldiers make.
