libraries in horry county
There are 10 library branches in Horry County plus Chapin Library and 2 branches in Georgetown that fall within the Grand Strand. Each one offers something a little different so you’ll need to check with your local branch often to make sure you’re keeping up with the schedule.
But all branches offer story times and many have a regular music or craft offering also so we’ve noted those. Be sure to check the calendar for other programs to take advantage of too. And since schedules can change quickly, PLEASE DOUBLE-CHECK DIRECTLY WITH THE LIBRARY BEFORE GOING to ensure things are operating normally!
getting a library card
Getting a library card is an easy process in Horry or Georgetown County and the two share an agreement which allows the cards to be used in either county.

Chapin Library is operated by the City of Myrtle Beach and not the Horry County library system so you’ll need to check their specific website for programs.
They have so many fun and unique things but schedules vary somewhat. You can expect things like story time at local parks, music & movement classes, happy feet soccer, and messy minis (story and sensory play).

Here are a few of our local independent bookstores. A few of these have classes and other events for kids/families. We’ve been to and love the first three!

This place is always hosting authors. They have a sweet little shop right beside the Fresh Market. Their kid section has some beautiful choices.
