Playground at North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex
North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex Review

north myrtle beach park overview

This playground is located close to the main front entrance to the complex. There is adequate parking right beside the park and plenty of other parking lots within walking distance. Several nearby ball fields share the parking lot so this might get hectic for big tournaments.

playground features

There are the standards two play structures for younger and older kids. The equipment is huge and in great shape. The smaller structure is low to the ground and feels very safe for those exploring toddlers and preschoolers. The older kid structure is multi-level and offers lots of slides and climbing options. There are a couple of shade canopies built over the play structure itself but the park as a whole is not well shaded.

Several shaded picnic shelters are close by and the bathrooms are as well. The swing sets are by the play structure so everything is situated pretty tightly within the playground area.

I’d say this park gets a B- for ease of watching multiple kids. The equipment is all close together but the height of the play structure does limit visibility. On the negative side, there is no fence and there are plenty of nearby places small kids might be interested in wandering off to – the parking lot, road, walking trail, and into the picnic shelters.

a note on the other features of NMB park

I love a park that has many other other elements to discover. Here are a few easy things that are walking distance from the playground.

TRAILS | There are 3 miles of walking trails in the park. You can pickup one of them up right from the park. It’ll take you past the outdoor stage, wind down to Shark Wake Park and then you can split off to a boardwalk over the swampy marsh. Look for the little crosswalk that is on the opposite end from the bathrooms to get started. We loved this little wooden walkway. It’s through the marsh so it’s well shaded (but might get buggy in the summertime)!

THE LAKE & SHARK WAKE PARK | Kids must be 7+ to enjoy this place but it is fun for watch from a distance too!

STAGE FOR OUTDOOR EVENTS | As mentioned earlier, if you take the trail out of the playground then you’ll walk past this outdoor stage. The open field is great for free play, a picnic, and kids love pretending to perform on that big stage!
