hampton plantation

McClellanville | South of MB (~1 hour from central MB)

We love this place and it is perfect for some spooky and batty fun. It’s such a gorgeous and well preserved plantation home. And BONUS, a colony of bats live in the plantation’s kitchen building! Scientists are going to be on site to monitor them and attach tracking devices on Oct 21 and 22. It’s late-ish (6–7:45pm) especially with the drive but that’s when bats do their thing. More info on that here.

There is also a talk about the Rafinesque big-eared bats that live in the kitchen building on Oct 22 at 1pm. That would be a fun thing to do and then tour the plantation home also!

hobcaw barony

Georgetown | South of MB (~30 minutes from central MB)

Creatures of the Night | Oct 28, 5:30–7pm. Take a bus through the villages of Hobcaw looking for nocturnal animals! I WANNA DO IT!!!

Family Fun: Ghosts of the Coast | Oct 29, 10:30a–12pm. Hear some local ghost stories and about some supernatural occurrences at Hobcaw. Includes stops at Friendfield Village and Bellefield Plantation.
