Balloon backdrops always make a statement. That is the ultimate way to create an instagram-worthy photo backdrop at nearly any event. We recently got to tag along with Kim Urgo who is the owner and artist behind The Real Balloon Lady.

SMALL JOBS | If you’d like to stay in the shallow waters then Kim has that covered with things like number stacks and grab-and-go garland. These are more budget conscious options but still add a lot of flair. How cute is that under the sea one!

BIGGER JOBS | These are show stopping! We’re talking about shimmer backdrops, custom made lit signs, and/or 600+ balloon garlands. You can use one element or all of these to make as much of a pop as you desire. I tagged along with Kim to create a pretty elaborate setup for a Sweet 16 recently and the finished product was incredible.
CORPORATE | Balloon designs work well for corporate events too and can include all the same mix of elements. Kim has experience working with businesses including banks and restaurants.

A NURSE & A MOM OF 2 | Kim moved with her family (husband and 2 kids) from Pennsylvania a year go. Her other job is a nurse but she has a history of big DIY decorations for her kids birthday parties. She wanted to see if she could turn that passion into a business and The Real Balloon Lady was born.
ONE WOMAN SHOW | Like most small business owners, Kim is doing it all: building her website, fielding inquiries, creating custom quotes and designs (even custom colors – that means layering 2 balloons together!), prep work (blowing up balloons off-set), setup/tear down (sometimes with her husband as support when it’s a big job), sourcing materials responsibly, getting photos/videos for marketing content, and more. It’s a T-O-N being a small business owner these days!
SHE IS INSANELY METICULOUS | These creations are more than a transaction to her. I was with her for a big setup and I can’t tell you how many times she fussed with the tiniest details. She will not rest until all gaps are filled and photo angles are inspected. I would’ve said “it’s fine” to at least a dozen things that she took the extra time to remedy. If you’re looking for perfection in your creation then she is who you want on your team!
SHE’S DEDICATED TO BRINGING YOU VALUE | After seeing the process in action I know why these large setups can run into the hundreds of dollars. It’s easily a 12+ hour job to create one big backdrop. She works to keep things are affordable as possible and I’ve heard from others that she’s one of the most reasonably priced options for balloon creations in the Grand Strand.
