PARK OVERVIEW

This park feels like a hidden gem. It’s not in a prominently visible space so you need to know where you’re going to find it. The address above is actually for the neighborhood directly in front of/beside the park but is the best to use in your GPS. Just know that as you drive in you’re wanting to get directly underneath the large bridge overhead. All the parking is down there.

PLAYGROUND FEATURES

This playground hits the big three –– well shaded, well designed and safe play structures, and bathrooms! Extra points for not being crowded (at least when we’ve been there) and having other natural habitats to explore in the piers right on the Intracoastal Waterway.

For small kids who have yet to understand the danger and power of water you’ll need to be vigilant if you let them near to throw in rocks and sticks. The bank drops off quickly in some places and it wouldn’t take much for a foot to slip on the pine needles.

One thing to note is generally how this park is used. It’s a destination for fishermen, boaters, and more so if you’re the least bit wary of people who don’t normally and shouldn’t hang out at playgrounds being nearby then keep this in mind. During our visits I haven’t felt unsafe but I do have my guard up a bit more than usual. And for the little 3 year old in our family, the appeal of throwing things in the water makes the waterway banks very enticing so extra vigilance there too!
