So, 2 things… (1) Grab the download if you want to join in the fun. And if you don’t want the printable then (2) at least make sure you subscribe to the newsletter so you don’t miss any of this stuff! Here is the family bucket list for Myrtle Beach – Winter/Holiday Edition!
christmas / holiday things
NIGHT OF 1000 CANDLES | Must do!!! We loved it so much last year. But if you haven’t gotten tickets yet then you’ll have to wait until after Christmas to see it. We just got tickets for Jan 1 because I was a slacker who didn’t buy tickets in time. Whomp, whomp. It’ll still be amazing. We actually saw it on Jan 1 last year too.
SEE A KID-FRIENDLY SHOW | Last year we saw the NUTCRACKER production by Coastal Youth Ballet and I’m sure it’ll be back this year. We’ll have a full list of the 9+ family-friendly Christmas shows happening in the Grand Strand.
DRESS IN JAMMIES & SEE CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS | Conway is doing it again with a Christmas house decorating contest so we’ll probably drive that route. We’ll probably do a reel and suggested driving route for this too!
SEE A BIG LIGHT DISPLAY | We’ll have a few to choose from in all parts of the Grand Strand. *Get on the newsletter list, we’ll have them all listed out!
DO A JESSE TREE | In our home, Christmas is primarily about Christ. One way we keep that central is by doing a Jesse Tree! If you’re not familiar then it’s simple –– you can purchase JESSE TREE ORNAMENTS on Amazon or Esty or even just print some off at home. Then you use your JESUS STORYBOOK BIBLE to read the story and hang the corresponding ornament onto the tree.
DONATE OR ADOPT A KID/FAMILY | This is something else we do every season. We’ll be rounding up some local options soon! *Get on the newsletter list, we’ll give some ideas*
GINGERBREAD CHALLENGE HOUSES | One of Conway’s fun Christmas activities is a Gingerbread House Challenge. They’ll be on display by Dec 8 so we’re excited to go see them.
ENJOY A PARADE | So many parade options! *Get on the newsletter list, we’ll list them all.*
HOLIDAY MARKET | We love the regular farmers’ market and we’re glad they extend them into Nov and Dec with the holiday markets!
BOOTH’S CHRISTMAS TREE FARM | Having a local Christmas tree farm is an amazing perk. We’ve never been but it’s now on the list!
GEORGETOWN’S YULETIDE HOME TOUR | Maybe better without the kids but there is plenty more in Georgetown to enjoy. So maybe go with a few friends and let the kids go to the park with the other adults while you browse the homes.
non-holiday / winter things
JUMP, JUMP, JUMP | The kids love the trampoline park but we don’t do it a whole lot when the weather is nice. But now that it’ll be turning cooler this will become a weekly thing! We love Big Air and they have a special promo we’re about to announce… Stay tuned!!!
VISIT A NEW MUSEUM | So many options! Horry County Museum, Rice Museum, Maritime Museum, NMB Museum, and more. We’ll do a round-up of all of them soon.
VISIT A NEW LIBRARY | Chapin Library would be an excellent choice! Or truly any Horry or Georgetown library that is new to you. We’ve got a bunch of info about them here.
DAY TRIP | We’ve already done a lot of these but our list is truly never ending… See where we’ve been here. We’re dying to make it to Wilmington, Florence, and Summerville.
VISIT A NEW STATE PARK | We will have some random super warm days this winter. We’ll maximize those with trips to some new state parks. We want to visit all the ones down in Charleston, plus Poinsett and Sesquicentennial.
DO SOME HIKING | We’ll it’s probably more like walking in the woods but there are many parks and preserves around that have some trails. We’re working on exploring all of those and you can keep up with those adventures on the newsletter list too.
Hope you'll download and follow along – or make a list of your own!
The first big holiday post is coming soon!!! Be sure you’re on the newsletter list to see all of the reviews, round-ups, and recs we provide!
