The Most Exciting Addition to Broadway at the Beach: Popstroke Myrtle Beach Review

popstroke myrtle beach review

Popstroke is a new way to play mini-golf and Myrtle Beach, as the unofficial putt-putt capital, surely needed one of these! We checked things out at their soft opening and here are some thoughts on Popstroke pricing, a full review, and other good-to-know info.

popstroke pricing and other key info

WHAT IS IT | It’s a new concept for mini-golf that combines a full service restaurant, 2 realistic mini-golf courses, sports bar, ice cream shop, and kids playground. You can take advantage of one or all of those things during your visit.

LOCATION | It’s in the new Key West Village portion of Broadway at the Beach (just across from The Hangout).

HOURS | 9am–11pm (midnight Thur-Sat). Restaurant opens daily at 11am.

POPSTROKE PRICING | There is a single option for an all-day golf pass and that is $30 (or $25 in off season: Oct 16–Feb 28). They do offer 20% discounts for kids, military and seniors. Tuesdays kids can play for $18 and get ice cream included. If you are not playing golf then there is no charge.

RESTAURANT SERVICE | If you want to eat at the restaurant then expect mid-range prices ($14-24 per entree). They have several bar areas and an ice cream station.

NO RESERVATIONS | All play is first-come, first-served.

PLAYGROUND BY RESTAURANT | There is a play structure perfectly situated by one of the dining areas. It’s fully fenced and has good visibility from this portion of the restaurant. It has some shade canopies and rubberized ground cover.

WILL BE SO POPULAR | Stating the obvious. It’s very well done and certainly has that air of newness, excitement and energy. It will be a very popular place so I think local families will probably want to reserve their visits for those off season times or early morning hours during peak season.

COURSES | The golf itself is challenging. There are two 18-hole courses. The Black Course is supposed to be the easier of the two (but it’s still hard).

The holes are made to mimic a true golf course so there are subtle slants, bunkers, rough grass, etc. Our kids still enjoyed it just as much as a traditional putt-putt but note that it is a bit more difficult and lacks the kitchy-ness you’re used to with putt-putt.

The balls are higher quality (but not as colorful). The last hole doesn’t have that no-return thing so you can keep your ball as a souvenir. You can even bring your own putter if you wish.

There are huge TVs all over the course so being out there at night, especially around big games/sports seasons will be very cool.

FOOD | The menu is really great. It’s a full service restaurant with a varied menu to match. The kids menu has plenty of options and includes fries or fruit and a drink for $10. See full menu here. Save room for ice cream because they have a full case with over 20 flavors.

KID-FRIENDLINESS | I see this place drawing lots of families but also potentially a louder, rowdier crowd during key times. I’d assume that things like big games, holidays, key vacation times, etc are probably not the most ideal times to visit.

This area is completely done (aside from some tenants in the new retail spaces moving in). And it’s so gorgeous! Right now there is a Starbucks, Insomnia Cookies, Teal Nation, and a carousel over there. There are about 6 more retails spots with tenants moving in soon! This will probably be a little more upscale portion of Broadway and we’re excited to see what it brings!
