Pawleys Island has some of the best shopping in the Grand Strand! If you don’t know where to start then read on for the ultimate guide to Pawleys Island shopping centers.

ALL ABOUT SHOPPING IN PAWLEYS ISLAND: There are two larger multi-shop centers (Hammock Shops and Island Shops). They’re right across the street from one another. Then there are some secondary shopping centers (Shops at Oak Lea, Sweetgrass Center, Village Shops) which are very close together also.

Then there are a few one-offs worth visiting.

Hammock Shops

The Original Hammock Shop itself is obviously worth stopping in. Just test drive a few and maybe pickup a piece of fudge or gourmet snack there.

QUICK FACTS: Shaded. Small playground. Corn hole. Frequent events including a Sunday farmers market (CHECK DATES HERE). Clean bathrooms. Good parking. Beautiful landscaping. Historic area.

NOTEWORTHY SHOPS: The Mercantile and Candy Cottage, Carolina Nature Nook (great for kids), Christmas Mouse, Stella and Remi (delicious gourmet nuts). See the complete list here.

Island shops

The Island Shops are almost directly across the street from the Hammock Shops.

QUICK FACTS: Outdoor shopping. Restaurants. Easy parking. Not as shaded but partially covered. Bathrooms. Central fountain feature.

NOTEWORTHY SHOPS: Driftwood Mercantile (good kids selection), Sea Gypsy Boutique, Limeablue (women’s clothing, home decor, and jewelry). There are a few other clothing boutiques, a salon, a jewelry store, an ice cream shop and restaurant (Rustic Table).

Mimi Seabrook is also in this area and it’s our #1 pick for ladies apparel in the South Strand. Be sure to follow them on social media too bc they are some goofy and incredibly stylish ladies.

Shops at Oak lea

The Shops at Oak Lea are small but have a couple great options:

NOTEWORTHY SHOPS: The Joggling Board (Lilly Pulitzer store) and The Men’s Store. There is another women’s clothing & shoe store, a jewelry shop and an art gallery here as well.

Sweetgrass Center

Just a few hundred feet up the road is another cluster of shops. These are pretty well connected via parking lot and sidewalks.

NOTEWORTHY SHOPS: Fleet Feet, a bakery, a fabric store, and a thrift shop. Farther up is As For Me and My House (home decor & gifts), a rug store and To Your Health (vitamins & supplements), Christopher’s Fine Jewelry and a Tara Grinna Swimwear.

Across the street is the Fresh Market grocery store and one of Pawleys independently owned bookstores, Litchfield Books. This book store hosts authors often and has many other special events.

Others worth mentioning

PaWLEY’S ISLAND GENERAL STORE | It’s hard to beat a general store and this one has the most amazing selection of local and regional goods. If you love food and care about sustainability and animal welfare then this is the place for you.

Rock N’ Roots Plant Co. | Who doesn’t love a nice succulent?! Drop in this shop to pick up a new one or stay a while to create your own little plant ecosystem. This shop is in the Village Shops which got an honorable mention earlier.

TRUE BLUE NURSERY | A stroll around this nursery is almost like being in a botanical garden. True Blue has such an incredible selection of plants, water features, and pottery that you’ll want to browse every nook and cranny.

MY SISTER’S BOOKS | This local, independent bookstore offers a mix of new and used books. You can find some real gems for under $5. The owner keeps the store and her computer system wonderfully organized so if you have questions then be sure to ask!
