conway at christmas

Conway at Christmas should not be missed! We recently checked it out and we’re sharing all the must-do’s and must-see’s around town.

Conway at Christmas

gingerbread houses

The gingerbread house competition entrants are on display in Black Water Market until Dec 21.

Black Water Market is open from 9am–9pm Monday–Saturday (closed completely on Sunday). It’s at 1019 4th Avenue and it’s an enclosed area in downtown that houses several shops and restaurants. The gingerbread houses are setup inside the walkways of this little area.

all aroud downtown

There is no shortage of lights and beautiful trees in downtown Conway. And there is no way to go wrong in how you approach this. You can park about anywhere downtown and walk around to see it all.

We chose to walk through the gingerbread houses first then to City Hall. From there we stopped by Christmas Village (Town Green), on to Terrace Park for a great view of the water tower, we walked to Riverfront Park and then back to the car to drive to the Celebration of Lights.

LIVE TREE AT CITY HALL | The primary, live tree is at City Hall. City Hall is also beautifully decorated. Don’t miss any of the little alleyway parks. They are always beautiful but now they do have some extra lights on the trees and bushes.

CHRISTMAS VILLAGE | This is setup on Town Green Thursdays–Sundays with vendors, Santa, the Shoo-Fly Express train, photo opps and more. Note the Shoo-Fly Express only takes cash ($1 per person) and the ride is about 5 minutes long. It has a pretty realistic sounding train whistle so note that if you have any noise sensitive kids.

TERRACE PARK & WATER TOWER | You can’t miss the lights on the water tower. Walk to Terrace Park and you’ll have a great view of it.

RIVERFRONT PARK | Riverfront Park is in on the lights fun. There are some clusters of lights hanging in the trees by the park and marina. You can still see some boats adorned in lights too. If you walk farther down you’ll find a large LED light tree near the stage area.

LIVING WINDOWS | Dec 7th. This is such a favorite that we somehow can’t ever make it to! Click that link for more info and a map.

SENSORY TREE LIGHTING | Dec 7, 5:30pm at Riverfront Park

celebration of lights drive through

Conway has a quick and affordable drive through lights display. Access it from Ash Pond and Marina. It’s just $2 per person and doesn’t have the same crowding and traffic issues as the bigger one in NMB. Even though it’s small it still has plenty of favorite scenes without the 45 minutes of bumper to bumper traffic getting into it.

All the conway things

MOVIES | Dec 8th (National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation  at 6pm), Dec 9th (Die Hard at 6pm), Dec 15th (The Grinch at 6pm). All happen on The Terrace.

Bfast w/Santa | Dec 9th 7am–9am. Requires reservations.

conway house decorating contest

This is the last big thing we’re waiting for in Conway! The winners should be announced on Dec 15 so that means we can plot a route and drive around for a free light show!
