Are you taking full advantage of
barefoot landing?

Barefoot Landing is well-known but you may not be taking advantage of all this shopping and dining destination offers.

Guest post written by Krystin Dean of Dean Team Adventures. She is an active mom of two who is documenting their adventures across the Grand Strand and beyond. If you aren’t following her already then check out their website and YouTube channel and find them on Instagram, TikTok and Facebook.

kid-friendly dining options

Crooked Hammock Brewery | Has a backyard vibe with live music, fire pits, yard games like corn hole and ping pong and – of course – cozy hammocks. The menu features cookout-inspired items like the Backyard Burger an “Grill” Basa Sandwich. Adults will enjoy the Brewery Tour, bar swings and seasonal brews.

LuLu’s NMB is known for it’s “Gumbo Love” and fresh coastal fare. The colorful, beachy themed restaurant features beautiful views of the Intracoastal Waterway. There’s also a packed schedule of live music – no surprise, since it’s owned by the late Jimmy Buffett’s sister, Lucy. Kids will flock to the sand and water play areas, Lulu’s Beach Arcade (games range from $0.25–$3 per play), and Mountain of Youth Ropes Course (must be 48″ or taller; $15 for the course and $20 for the course plus Quick Jump and $10 play card; 10% discount online).

River City Cafe | Kids will love that it’s okay to throw peanuts on the floor at this relaxed atmosphere restaurant. They boast friendly staff and some of the best burgers in the area. We highly recommend splitting the massive “Kitchen Sink” burger platter.

Blueberry’s Grill | Be sure to make a reservation when you visit because the word is out about this exceptional brunch spot that’s open for breakfast and lunch daily. We highly recommend the pork belly eggs Benedict and the omelet with corned beef and brie. The atmosphere is classy without being stuffy, and the wraparound porch is lovely during the less sweltering months.

spots to play

DOCKSIDE VILLAGE PLAYGROUND | This large nature-themed playground (by Crooked Hammock Brewery) features fun slides, climbers and a treehouse tower to keep the kids entertained while the grownups rest in Adirondack chairs or under the shade of a massive oak. Note – the closest restrooms are at CHB or Lulu’s.

HARBORWALK VILLAGE | There is a smaller playground by Landshark Bar & Grill that resembles a pirate ship treehouse. Landshark also has an inviting outdoor space with corn hole, fire pits and a giant checkerboard. You don’t need to dine there to access the play area. This one is a hidden gem!

BAREFOOT AMUSEMENTS | There is a carousel, small train and bungee area plus an open green space with jumbo Jenga, checkers and chess in Dockside Village. Tickets $3 or $50 for a pack of 20. The bungee is 5 tickets, carousel is 2 and train is 2.

the special events

The events calendar at Barefoot Landing stays pretty full. Here are some of the major events:

WINTER | Lighting of the Landing, Holiday Golf Cart Parade, Mardi Gras Parade, Rockin’ Paws

SPRING | Barefoot Bunny Hop, Spring Music in Dockside Village

SUMMER | SummerFest (strolling characters, entertainment, music), SeptemberFest, Nick Pike’s performances (these are SOOO worth checking out)

Yoga In the Yard | Happens every Sunday morning at 10am at CHB

other attractions & Places to shop

Shopping with young kids can be fun — if you know where to go so that they are interested and you aren’t spending $$$$. These are some sports worth stopping in:

Savannah Bee Company | You can check out the bee hive, sample honey and lotions, and adults can try some mead while the kids chill in the cute indoor treehouse.

Black Market Minerals Myrtle Beach | Has beautiful, reasonably priced treasures and a lovely vibe. There’s a little $1 table with really cool items kids will love.

Faux Paws | Your pup will thank you for stopping by and packing a $5 pick and mix bag of tasty treats.

Christmas Mouse | Features two stories of festive holiday spirit and is a must stop for all Christmas lovers.

Purpleologist | If your child loves purple this is a must visit because every single item and decoration in the store is – you guessed it – purple.

Wee R Sweetz | There are so many candy shops at Barefoot but this is our favorite thanks to incredibly reasonably priced sweet treats. The kids grabbed handfuls of taffy around $1 and we were also handed a freshly made buckeye during our visit.

ALLIGATOR ADVENTURE | Located adjacent to Barefoot Landing, this is one of the largest facilities for reptiles in the world. It’s $34.99 for adults, $24.99 for kids ages 4-12 and free for kids 3 and under.

This is just scratching the surface of everything there is to do at Barefoot Landing. Check out this vlog of our full tour of Barefoot Landing.
