There are 10 libraries in the Horry County Library system. Each one is a little different and worth checking out! We’re working our way through to highlight the features of each. Check out those we’ve already been to below.
carolina forest
2250 Carolina Forest Blvd
PLAYGROUND: Yes. Palmetto Adventure Land is next door.
KID AREA SUMMARY: The kid area is quite big with 2 computer areas (8 total), a train table, and another open play area with just a couple of toys.
OTHER NOTABLES: There is also a restroom in the kids room.
NEARBY: There is so much nearby! We’ll list our favs here soon.
chapin library
400 14th Ave N, Myrtle Beach
PLAYGROUND: Yes. Chapin Park is super close. Read our review of that park here.

NEARBY: Chapin Park (see above). Plyler Park and the MB Boardwalk. The SkyWheel.
CONWAY
PLAYGROUND: No
KID AREA SUMMARY: The kid area takes up at least half of the main level of the library. There are no toys except a big Connect 4 game.
OTHER NOTABLES: There is a huge storyroom/kid space and the best floor to ceiling windows for reading. And some great big wall murals!
NEARBY: The Horry County Museum and Shine Cafe share a parking lot. We love both of those places! The museum is free so just a quick pop-in to see the cool water tank is worth it – and lunch at Shine will not disappoint. They have a toy bin!!!
socastee
PLAYGROUND: Yes. And a butterfly garden. The playground doesn’t drain well though so there will be lots of standing water after heavy rain.
KID AREA SUMMARY: Large children’s room. No toys. 8 computers. Adventure Packs. Storytime space. Bathrooms close by.
OTHER NOTABLES: Great section for baby books.
NEARBY: By the Beach Nutrition. Fun Warehouse. Socastee Rec Park. And Target!
surfside
410 Surfside Drive, Surfside Beach
KID AREA SUMMARY: The kid area is tucked away to the side and has great windows for plenty of light. There are 8 computers, a storytime space, a puzzle/drawing area, adventure packs, and another quiet reading area.
PLAYGROUND: Yes, Fuller is right next door.
OTHER NOTABLES: Very close to the beach. And Surfside Farmers Market happens just outside the front doors on Tuesdays from 10a-3p (during market season).
NEARBY: Benjamin’s Bakery. Fuller Park. Memorial Park for Surfside Farmers Market on Tuesdays. The beach. Painter’s Ice Cream.
