the best things to do
in myrtle beach in april

Myrtle Beach in April is fantastic. We have summer-like weather many days without any of the summer-like traffic and congestion! There are festivals to attend, strawberries to pick, baseball is back and so are the farmers markets!

these things are back!

Brookgreen Gardens | There is never a bad time to visit Brookgreen but spring, when the azalea’s are in full bloom is a highlight. Look for this in to happen toward the very end of March and first couple of weeks of April.

Strawberries | April marks the beginning of strawberry picking season. We have several farms across the area and a few a little farther out that we love to highlight. See that full list here NOTE: The info in this post is from 2023, we’ll be updating it for 2024 soon. Most places are not open for You-Pick yet but you can check their FB/website for the latest info.

MB Pelicans Baseball | April marks the beginning of our minor league baseball team’s return to the field. The Pelicans do such a great job with their fan experience –– they’ve even been voted #1 for Single-A Ballpark experience by Stadium Journey (for the 5th year in a row).

You can see their full schedule here and details about their Family Fun Fridays

We also still have baseball at CCU!

The Farmers Market | We feel a little lost without the farmers market as a go-to activity. All our market locations pair perfectly with a park date or library stop. The prepared food vendors and farmers all offer such wonderful things. See the full schedule and details about why we love the markets here.

Dave + Busters | Spring Break for All Special

STAR Academy | 7 Days of Play Special

events

Myrtle Beach Food Truck Festival | April 5–7. This annual event is always a highlight of the year. With over 80 trucks on site you will have no problems finding old favorite or new flavors.

NMB Touch A Truck | April 6. This annual event is a favorite and I recommend it. It’ll be crowded and maybe a little loud but it’s still such a fun time walking around to enjoy all the unique trucks and equipment.

KidzTime Festival | April 13. This was postponed from March but it’s a family favorite in the popular Broadway at the Beach shopping center.

YMCA Healthy Kids Day | April 20. All three YMCA branch locations (MB, Pawleys Island, and Georgetown) will host this incredible event. It’ll feature a variety of activities (a little different at each location) but highlights include: obstacle course, bounce houses, face painting, food trucks and more. Georgetown even has a Mud Run!

Spring Taste of Market Common | April 20. The restaurants of the shopping center cover a range of cuisines – Southern, Italian, Asian, Tex-Mex and more.

Brookgreen Gardens Earth Day Festival | April 20. These special kid-focused events at Brookgreen always delight. We try to hit as many as we can – the stations are always so well-themed, incorporate learning, and result in some wonderful keepsakes. (The back of those little heads in the picture look mighty familiar 🙂

Dragon Boat Festival | April 27. This is one of the area’s largest fundraisers and it always draws a crowd. The race itself is always exciting but there is a family fun zone, vendors, food, and more.

Socastee Heritage Festival | April 27. This event is a favorite of the locals and includes vendors, stages of live entertainment, food, and more.

a little further away

Artfields in Lake City | Begins April 26. This annual art show and competition brings in hundreds of of thousands from across the southeast. Here are some of our notes from last year.

LOWCOUNTRY STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL | April 5–7 and 11–13. Just down the road in Mt Pleasant at Boone Hall Plantation is one of the area’s largest strawberry festivals. It features shows, vendors, special treats, rides, pig races, and much more. It’s crowded though so plan accordingly.

NC Azela Festival | April 3–7. This festival is just up the road in Wilmington. It features concerts, a parade, children’s entertainment, vendors, food, and much more.
