Things to do in January in Myrtle Beach

The months of January–March are very light on events and activities in the Grand Strand. But we searched hard and found a few things to do in January in Myrtle Beach. Plus some good-for-anytime ideas!

Grand Strand Boat & Sportsman Expo | Jan 6–8. This big annual event is at the MB Convention Center. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for kids under 12 (3 and under are free).

South Carolina Restaurant Week | January 12-22. There are about 11 Myrtle Beach area participating restaurants.

Grand Strand Freedom Week | Jan 13–17. There are several events happening to celebrate MLK Day including the annual parade which is on Jan 14 at 10am.

Smokehouse Day at LW Paul Living History Farm | Jan 21 from 9am–Noon. This is a celebration of the family pig! The farm also has events on Jan 7 and 28 (see more info about those on the events page).

Collegiate Sports at CCU | The men and women’s basketball teams have several home games throughout January.

Annual Father-Daughter Dance at Ripley’s Aquarium | Jan 28 from 6–8pm. Tickets are available in advance for $55 (one adult + one child).

Try some programming from fav mom-owned businesses

Try out a class with Inlet Language Center | They offer Spanish Camp on Saturdays from 11a–12:30p in Murrells Inlet. You can drop the kids off for $20 while they enjoy 1.5 hours of fun, interactive learning! We’ve taken a class and loved it –– read that here.

Sat classes: Jan 7, Jan 14, Feb 4, Feb 18

Mermaid Adventure Swim | If you’re looking for kid swim lessons in 2023 then get on Lynn’s calendar now. She is holding an open house/meet the instructor on Jan 21 (we’ll be there)!

Studio 43*19 | If you have a little artist or creator then this is the place! We love our classes here. So many options for kids –– and adults!

Star Academy | We’ll be visiting them this month to cover their ONE-OF-A-KIND facility designed specifically for kids with sensory processing disabilities.

How about a little day or road trip!

Since these winter months can be so slow on the event front we love to take this time to make some day trips – and even road trips! Here are a few of our tops suggestions…
